I started drawing and painting at an early age. I'm a self-taught artist. My love for horses has always been the most important subject of my paintings. I also paint figurative paintings, wildlife and animal portraits. My first medium of choice was oils; I also work in watercolor, acrylics and pencil. I have shown my paintings at local shows and horse events. I'm a member of some local art guilds.
I live on a small horse farm with my husband in Homer, Georgia. We've had horses for over 30 years now. My husband and daughter participated in horse shows at local and national levels for many years. I was the "horse show mom" chasing them around with brushes and sprays before they entered a class. I got a lot of inspiration from the horses and people at the shows as well as the horses on our own farm. Now the horses are retired from showing and we ride on the beautiful trails of North Georgia and surrounding areas.
When I'm painting an animal I love to see them come alive on the canvas. I want the viewer to feel as though they could reach out and touch them.
I'm at my happiest when I'm painting, horse-back riding and with family and friends. I look at something on the trail or wherever I am and think "That would be a nice painting".
