I've always been an artist, making things 'from nothing' as a child - and joyfully painting full time now for about twenty years. Like most artists, I am inspired by the natural world, in love with color, and fascinated by that which is revealed not just by looking, but SEEING.

I love being an artist; making things and changing environments with color, texture and illusion. My large narrative paintings and murals are often landscapes depicting the grandeur of nature and ecological themes. I love the power of ever-changing weather, cloud formations and the vastness of the earth and sky, and I strive to capture 'atmosphere' in my work. Animals are favorite subjects as well, painted with humor, dignity, and each species' particular personality traits. My paintings tell stories - but one needn't necessarily know what I was thinking in order to enjoy the images. I wish to engage the viewer, but interpretation and meaning is open to each person because I work on so many aspects at once: the purely visual, the mood, the story, and the deeper personal meaning.

I am a full time artist with academic training. Recent work includes both large and small landscapes and expressionistic portraits of animals for the Art for Shelters Project, I accept commissions for murals, animal portraits, decorative painting, faux finishes, and painted furniture.
