Carolyn Gaik

Clarkesville, GA

In my early years, creativity was expressed in my sewing and embroidery. I took one art course in college and then put it on the back burner for a career in data processing in Atlanta.

I began drawing and painting when my husband and I retired to the beautiful north Georgia Mountains. I’ve studied watercolor with Dianne James and Tony Couch, watercolor, pen and ink, and oils with Dianne Mize, and oils and pastels with Robin Mitner at the Sautee Nacooche Center for the Arts. I’ve studied Reference Photography with Marvin Mattelson.

My art has been exhibited at the Sautee Nachoocee Center for the Arts, the Georgia Heritage Center for the Arts, and the Clarkesville Library. Several pieces have been donated to local charity auctions.

I love to work in all the mediums I’ve tried so far. My favorite subjects are scenes from my travels, cats, butterflies, birds, and cows. I like to work on commission also.
