Mary Harlan

Clarkesville, GA

Mary has been drawing and painting since childhood, even making her own paper dolls. During later years she was busy working and raising children and did not have much time for art. After retiring and moving to the mountains in 2001, she started taking art classes from Diane Mize and Robin Miltner at the Sautee Nacoochee Center for the Arts and have been a student there ever since. Her interests are oil, watercolor, pen and ink, acrylic, graphite and pastels.

Her inspiration comes from the beautiful surroundings here in North Georgia as well as the joy of losing herself in creating. In addition to “fine” art, she enjoy decorative painting. I have donated several pieces to charities for their silent auctions. Mary’s art has been displayed at the Georgia Heritage Center for the Arts in Tallulah Falls, Clarkesville Library, and the Sautee Nacoochee Center for the Arts. Her subjects include landscapes, still life, pets, and grandchildren.
