Nancy Garrett grew up in the woods of Nowhere Road in Athens, GA. After graduating from high school, she moved to Clarkesville, GA to be in the mountains, study horticulture and start a family.

Her journey began with a love for nature, plants, and medicinal and edible herbs, as well as folk medicine. For many years Nancy has made soap, corn shuck dolls, kudzu baskets and herbal preparations. She also published The Pineywoods Journal of Makin’ Medicine.

In recent years her journey has taken her to painting, collages as well as ceramic pottery and sculpture. No matter the medium, Nancy’s inspiration is Nature, movement and emotion.

Nancy currently resides in Tallulah Falls, GA and is a Resident Artist at the Georgia Heritage Center for the Arts at Tallulah Falls. Her work may also be found at The Center Gallery in Sautee Nacoochee Valley, The Burton Gallery & Emporium in Batesville, Ga and the Lee Johnson Gallery in Clayton, GA
