Jeanie Daves

Clarkesville, GA

Jeanie Britt Daves makes functional high fire stoneware pottery on the wheel and low fire tiles and sculptural mural pieces for home and public settings. She has worked in clay since 1978, and her academic background includes undergraduate and graduate work in clay. Her work is narrative and figurative in subject, often depicting people and animals in a satiric, humorous or "folksy" vein.

Jeanie has taught children and adults in community settings and worked with people with mental and physical disabilities through community agencies. She worked as a potter for Mark of the Potter, Clarkesville, for five years. On occasion, she teaches clay classes at the John C. Campbell Folk School in Western North Carolina. For even more fun, she plays fiddle in an old-time Appalachian dance band with her husband.
