Melodie & Matt Cowart

Clayton, GA

We were both born in South Georgia, Matt was raised at Tybee Beach and Melodie, a child of a military family, around the U.S. and in the Orient.
Matt is a retired service engineer in the medical division of Johnson and Johnson. Melodie is a retired OGN nurse. They have two children and five grandchildren who live nearby.
We built our retirement home on Turkey Mountain, finishing in 1998. As a part of our home we have a shop and a small studio. We both love to work with wood and glass and paint! We create what we call functional art. Included are trivets and coasters fashioned from old wine corks and various woods. We also make lazy susans (14, 16 and 24 inch sizes) from oak and cermic tile. Melodie works with stained glass and findings to fashion unique wind chimes. We also make tissue cubes for the home from ceramic tile and wood.
Our work is featured at Georgia Heritage Center in Tallulah Falls, Burton Gallery on hwy 197 and Lee Johnson Gallery in Clayton, Georgia.
