Janet Cornett is a resident of Gainesville, GA. She remembers winning her first art show in the first grade in Decatur, GA. Drawing and painting were all she wanted to do, but in the 60's, earning a living had to come first. She never stopped the constant drawing and later earned a degree in business education at Georgia State University. Majoring in Art was not practical. For the next twenty years she worked on and off at various jobs in the business world. She would later divorce and remarry a man from Gainesville, Georgia.

Janet began to take courses at the Quinlan Visual Arts Center where some of the best teachers in the country taught. Her favorite medium is oil. She loves painting most any subject matter and likes to experiment with layering techniques to build up textures in her paintings. Her paintings hang in various places all over Gainesville.

Janet stays busy painting for friends,shows and donates a great deal of artwork. Her day usually starts around 6:00 a.m.; Painting many days at least ten hours a day. At the age of sixty, Janet is finally living her passion and won her second art show at the fall, 2007, Art League Show in Gainesville, GA.
