Phyllis Grimes
Lawrenceville, GA
My first serious experiences with the visual arts were as a sketch artist for my high school newspaper. Twenty years later I took an acrylics class as a recreational pursuit, but did not have space in a busy career to focus on painting at that time. In late 2005 I retired from state government and was delighted that I finally would be able to pursue my long-held interest in art. My work centers on landscapes of nature scenes - predominantly of mountains, streams, barns, mills, meadows and fields of flowers.
My hope is that people who view my art will share with me in the enjoyment of everyday scenes in nature that we often do not take time to linger and appreciate – a beautiful sky, colorful flowers, an old mill or barn that represent a piece of history. I love animals, and they are often found in my pastoral scenes. You can view my paintings at the Georgia Heritage Center for the Arts in Tallulah Falls, GA.
I currently live in Lakemont and Lawrenceville. Along with painting, I love playing tennis and have recently started playing golf. Life is good!
