In college, Erin studied painting while receiving a Bachelor's Degree in Art Marketing at North Georgia College and State University. Holbrook has worked in art direction and graphic design for the past several years while continuing to paint and exhibit throughout north Georgia. She has completed several bodies of work including Places in 2002 and Shoes for her first one-woman show in August of 2004.
Holbrook's work is best described as bold, vibrant colors and brush strokes on stretched canvases. Holbrook says "I like intense, saturated colors and I like taking the existing colors of what I paint and really punching up the intensity to make them brighter than they actually are. I feel like the bold colors really grab your attention and create a stronger interaction with the viewer. And it can also add mystery or intrigue to the subject matter and accentuate its character."
Some of Erin's favorite subject matters are architecture, people and cars. She says "I am passionate about all areas of visual design, from interiors to furniture to textiles. I'm also really adamant about functional and practical designs and I try to be selective about the materials I use because healthy products and processes are important to me."
Erin and her husband, both natives of north Georgia, continue to live and work in the beautiful setting of the north Georgia mountains. "I'm very thankful that God has blessed me with the ability to paint and design and it is my desire to honor Him in everything I do."
