Davis studied ceramics, basketry, jewelry, general crafts, needlework, weaving, metalwork, woodworking, design and applied design at Washington University in St. Louis in the 60's. In the 1970's, she took a short course in acrylic painting from Delores Meldrum in Albany, GA. However, she did not actively participate in fine arts until the 1990's.

Symbolism and abstraction are Davis' primary interests and frequently dominate her work, both fiber art and mixed media.
