Artist Ruth Ann Landa paints from her home studio situated in a mountain setting between Clarkesville and Sautee, Georgia. She enjoys drawing and paints in both acrylics and oils. Her work includes subjects from nature, horses, dogs and cats and often their owners.
"I've been drawing and painting from childhood" she says. With no formal education but a vast library of instructional books, she says "...the best teacher is time and lots of patience."
Besides showing and demonstrating with GHCA, some of Ruth Ann's work can be seen at the Clarkesville Veterinary Clinic across from Pence Feed on Hwy 115 west of Clarkesville. "If I hadn't been an artist, I would've loved to have been a vet", she says. Her grandfather was a vet in rural New York State and she has a lot of fond memories of his farm and animals there. "I'm too squeamish though, painting is better!" She creates many pet memorials from photos and donates a portion of the proceeds to her local humane society.
