Debra Hibble McInvale

McInvale Studios
Cleveland, GA

Debra is a creative artist and designer specializing in original hand painted porcelain. Beginning with porcelain clay, Debra is able to participate in the total creation of her original work. Whether she is designing jewelry or wall hangings or tile murals, her porcelain "canvases" are decorated with over-glaze colors and gold. They are kiln-fired a minimum of three to ten times at temperatures ranging between 1400 and 2300 degrees.

Looking for additional variety after painting on porcelain for over 25 years, Debra is now exploring glass and using it in combination with her porcelain. Hand painted glass lamps are beginning to brighten her studio while porcelain and glass combination window sculptures throw even more dancing colors around the room. Debra also enjoys creating with fiber, paper and words.

Debra began china painting with her grandmother LaRose McGuire Hibble, who was herself a student of Edward G. Lycett in the 1920s and also painted monogrammed dinnerware for the Lycett Studio in the 1950s and 1960s. Debra has since had the privilege of studying with many wonderful porcelain art teachers as well as studying watercolors, oils, drawing and collage. She is most grateful to all teachers who willingly share their knowledge. She is eternally thankful to God who has blessed her with creative talent and opportunities.

Stop by Debra's working studio and visit or join her students for classes September through May. Ideas and inspiration abound and there is never a dull moment. She is also available to give programs or teach seminars and workshops regionally. Her work is available in shops and galleries throughout Northeast Georgia.
